REGION RESTRUCTURE 2008 – 2009

The VLAA Board of Management announced the restructuring of the Regions effective as at 1 Sept. 2008.  In making a final decision regarding the redistribution of Centres the Board has taken into considerations the following important rational:

·         Distance to venues

·         Number of athletes within Regions

·         Numbers of Centres within Regions

·         Accessibility of all weather tracks for every Region (Current & Future)

·         Maintaining 8 Regions

·         Assisting weak Regions for future sustainability

Clutch has recently been commissioned by The Board of Australian Little Athletics to conduct a review of Little Athletics programs in Australia. Specifically this review is in relation to our role as a youth and family sporting organisation and how we can address issues concerning family obesity, foundations for sporting initiatives with young people and the restoration of a family fun and fitness culture in Australia to address concerns about the levels of physical activity in the community that might be addressed through Little Athletics initiatives.

As part of this study ALA are engaging past, present and interested stakeholders of Little Athletics to provide their views on a range of health, sport and physical activity issues to ensure we address the views of everyone involved.

To participate ALA has established an on-line survey for you to complete. Simply click here to start the survey (should take about 5-10 minutes).

The Junior Development Squad (JDS) is a program aimed at giving our talented athletes a little more in terms of coaching, education, competition and a sense of accomplishment. Athletes must qualify for the squad by achieving athletic results that better a set performance criteria.

The squad is open to all registered athletes from U/12 to U/15 that meet the performance criteria. VLAA HISTORY

Bayswater Bullets Little Athletics Club, one of eleven clubs within the Knox Little Athletics Centre was successful in being granted a Local History Grant by the State Public Records Office Victoria in November 2006 for their 40th Anniversary during the 2008/09 season..

Part of this project was to discover the early Little Athletics history by interviewing those who were there at the time during the mid 1960's in Geelong and obtaining early Little Athletics records.

Although not complete, we have listed it here for those interested in the origins of our sport, and the hurdles that had to be overcome during those formative years.

Please bookmark this page as it will be updated as more information come to hand over the next twelve months or so.

We would also like to hear from those involved with Little Athletics during these early times.
